Milchplatz gravel plant
The company Hülskens GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Wesel, began construction of the »Milchplatz Gravel Plant« in 2007 in the Rheinberg area. The facility has a capacity of 800 t/h, and is to produce some two million tons of ready-to-sell sand and gravel. The plant was entirely planned under the aegis of the Hülskens engineering department.
Unusual for such a large new building was the fact that all the orders for wear protection linings for all plant components were directly by Hülskens, instead of by the respective plant builder, as is usually the case. The client thus conducted several different gluing tests on its own in advance with different qualities of rubber and examined sample bonding. In the process, special attention was given to the different gluing techniques, the rubber quality and separation behaviour. The goal was to find good rubber quality with the right gluing technique, which was easy to strip off again at the end of the service life. This also made considerable savings in the installation time possible as well as for wear repairs.
As one of six suppliers, Lutze Fördertechnik (Düren subsidiary) was awarded the commission as the sole wear protection supplier for the Milchplatz plant, not least because of the »live demonstrations« with numerous references in the Lower Rhine region. The company installed approximately 850 m2 of rubber.
In addition, Lutze was commissioned to rig 30 belts, on water as well as on land, and to connect them up continuously using hot vulcanized joinings.
