"LUWITAN®" is a product name that many LUTZE customers have already firmly adopted in their vocabulary at work. Customers constantly ask: "What does
Luwitan® actually mean?"
LUWITAN® is the LUTZE product name for
polyurethane systems that are used for moulded parts and
wear-protection coatings. LUWITAN® was first developed in 1965 when
Heinz Lutze Senior received a request from a large conveyor belt
customer for roller coatings made of polyurethane (PU). He looked for a
way to make this himself, together with the engineer M. Winkler. A
successful system was soon developed and the name was derived from the
two developers: "LU" stands for Lutze, "WI" for Winkler and then "TAN"
was added based on the final syllable of "polyurethane".
LUWITAN® stands for individual PU problem solutions using quite different chemical bases. The copyrighted brand name lets LUTZE have the flexibility to select its own formulas from the building blocks of polyurethane materials, independently of raw materials suppliers, and optimally adapt them to the specific application.
